A child of the 80's!!

Are you a child of the 80's, 70's, 60's, 50's? How was the decade that you grew up in similar to the current decade? How was it different? Discuss societal trend and possible negative impact it may have on child development in the future.

I am a child of the 80's 1986 in fact. Television wasn't as developed as much as it is today and people usually didn't spend hours upon hours sitting in front of it day after day. Sometimes and I am not saying all parents do this but the television is a babysitter for them while they are busy nowdays. I also know that in the 80's everything was a lot cheaper than they are now so a family could afford to have one of the parents stay at home and raise the children. The similarities are few but many will never change in that most children are born in hospitals now just as they were in the 80's. The only difference is they have developed Neonatal and many different other aspects to help children when they are first born. I know this is off subject a little but now ''Top Gun'' is a classic and it had just released in 1986! Ask anybody under the age of 17 and they probably have no clue what that show is. The different styles of clothing have changed for children as well and some of these outfits from the 80's still haunt children of the 80's today! lol j/k. Emotional scarring and pictures of these monstosity's are lingering around my parents house somewhere! I am glad the styles have changed. The negative impacts are a tricky subject because at the moment in time when the child is growing up they don't realize what is going to scar them for the rest of their life if it does at all. Now that we can look back 20 years as adults we can understand why it may have or didn't have. Basically we or our parents didn't know any better. The seatbelt safety laws didn't take into effect in Texas until the mid 90's. Yes children were allowed to sit up front in the car without a carseat and without a seatbelt. Sounds strange to us and unheard of but it still a fairly young concept.
